1) What training courses, or background understanding, are required prior to using Terrapene Process Management Suite?
To purchase the stand-alone version of Terrapene no training is required. It is recommended that the purchaser have a working knowledge of the process approach to management and the requirements of an ISO 9001:2000-based quality management system. Without this basic background the software will not be very useful.
Purchasing either server versions of Terrapene does require some background understanding, and if that is not currently resident in the purchasing organization, then some training will need to take place. The two main components of that understanding is the process approach to management and the requirements of a quality management system. Additionally, a purchase of the either server versions includes two days of training. The two-day course that is included expects that participants already understand the process approach. This course focuses on the organization’s application of the process approach and how that can be best applied and implemented using Terrapene as the platform.

3) Who needs the training?
The training and understanding needed prior to the Terrapene implementation should involve anyone the organization feels will be a process owner. Process owners are keys to the proper functioning of a system that depends upon a process approach to management. The difference for this training is the limitation in numbers. It is expected that from 10-20 of the key process owners would attend the Terrapene course then would share their instruction and information with the process owners with whom they interact. Another group that should also be encouraged to attend Terrapene training is any internal auditor within the organization.

4) Can I teach myself about the Terrapene software?
Absolutely! The software application is very easy to use and to understand. A tutorial is available on the Terrapene website that explains Terrapene’s usage quite well. What is more difficult to master for most individuals, are the applications of Terrapene to the process approach to management and the ISO requirements. Obviously these areas of understanding are more complex and more detailed, and take more time to understand.
